ABSTRACT

Michelle Kirschner, MSN, RN, APRN-BC, ACNP, has over 30 years of clinical experience as a nurse practitioner. She joined the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center Survivorship Program in 2016, where she led the development of the Neuro-Oncology and Cancer Cognitive Clinics. Michelle is an active member of the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Related Cognitive Impairment Collaborative and champions survivorship care innovation and research.
Currently, she serves as Director of Program Development for the Cancer Survivorship Provider Network (CSPN) and Clinical Lead at OneVillage, a virtual supportive care platform. Michelle has contributed to national initiatives, including the Biden Moonshot National Survivorship Standards and the Cancer X mentor program, and continues to advance survivorship care through research and leadership roles.

In this insightful presentation, Michelle Kirschner, a seasoned nurse practitioner and Director of Program Development at the Cancer Survivorship Provider Network, explores the complex interplay of symptoms that frequently co-occur in cancer survivors. Learn about the common challenges like fatigue, cognitive impairment, sleep disturbances, and depression, and how these symptoms are often driven by similar underlying mechanisms such as inflammation.

Michelle discusses assessment strategies and practical solutions for addressing these issues, with a focus on the importance of sleep, mental health evaluation, and the power of exercise in improving long-term outcomes for survivors. Whether you're a healthcare provider or a cancer survivor seeking to better understand symptom management, this presentation offers valuable guidance on taking action to improve quality of life.
